Keeping healthy
We don’t know yet how effective any natural approaches are to preventing this virus, nor the level of efficacy when it comes to dealing with it. What we do know, is that the healthier you are to begin with, the lower chance you have of serious complications should you test positive. Simple approaches to staying well such as ensuring a good, balanced diet, full of fresh fruits and vegetables alongside reducing levels of caffeine, alcohol and refined sugar are ways in which we can offer our immune system help. Herbal remedies such as Echinacea, Beta-Glucans, Elderberry, Reishi and Andrographis are all useful for the immune system in normal times and may well yet be shown to help us stay healthy during this outbreak. Andrographis in particular is interesting. This ayurvedic herb is the subject of a trial by the University of Southampton to reduce the use of antibiotics in upper respiratory tract infections. Taken at the onset of an upper respiratory infection it shows great promise in clearing the infection up much sooner with less severe symptoms than waiting it out.
Vitamin D – this vitamin has seen a huge surge in popularity over the last 5-10 years, with particularly high interest over the last eighteen months. We know how important Vitamin D is for our immune system and topping up our levels of this vital vitamin is an easy and simple way to help our immune system to do its job well. Combined with Vitamin C and Zinc, these nutrients play vital roles in keeping us well through the winter months.
Probiotics are another simple way to help maintain great immune health. 70% of our immune cells are situated in our intestine, so keeping this part of our body healthy is vital to ensuring a healthy immune system. Emerging research now shows that our resident gut bacteria communicates with our immune system to help it respond appropriately. Lactobacillus paracasei CASEI 431®, has been shown to reduce the duration of cold and flu symptoms by three days, compared to placebo, in a gold standard flu vaccine challenge study and is one of the most researched strains when it comes to the immune system.

Our team Our Teamof trained practitioners and advisors are here 6 days a week (and often respond to social media outside of this) to ensure that we do everything we can to help each and every one of our lovely customers to stay well.
The standard advice of maintaining good hygeine, washing hands thoroughly with soap and hot water regularly, using a tissue when you cough or sneeze applies as these simple measures can help us to stay healthy all year round, not just during this particular time.
